10/10 for an expertly curated and organised 5-day experience hosted by a warm and wonderful team - Tim and Bianca.  As a group of four from Melbourne, we found it all worked perfectly - the lodge, the planning for the walks, the balance between wine tastings, walking, dining out for lunch and dining in for dinners, and the overall professional but personal approach of our hosts.   Each day was structured to work for the given weather conditions, the walking route, and the accommodation of varied wine tastings and dining experiences.  This is perfect for people who love a relaxing break that provides a mix of fairly gentle outdoors activity, good food and wine in a beautiful setting.  We walked in October and the weather conditions during the days varied fairly wildly from hot (around 29 celcius) to cold (around 8 celcius) - Tim and Bianca organised our days to fit the conditions, and there was always the great option to take a day off walking and stay at the lodge.  While the trail is a little hilly, this is not difficult walking and should be easily managed for anyone who is moderately fit and mobile.

We are a group of older women who loved our amazing long weekend Clare Valley walk.  We extended to 3 nights & enjoyed 2 beautiful walks through the peaceful & scenic Clare Valley.  The walks were really enjoyable, long enough to work up a hearty appetite to enjoy the amazing meals supplied by local restaurants, the food was top quality. Absolutely loved this experience! The scenery was stunning — rolling vineyards, peaceful trails, and that relaxed Clare Valley charm everywhere you looked. The walk was perfectly paced and thoughtfully organised, with beautiful accommodation, great food, and seamless communication from start to finish.

A fantastic 3 days of walking, laughs, gorgeous scenery,  brilliant food and of course, wine! Clare Valley Walking Tour Overview

If you love Hiking, Gourmet Food and Premium Wine, then combine all 3 for snapshot of the Clare Valley.

The walking component is done in the morning and follows the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail, on the way you’ll pass the Tim Adams Winery where you can stop for tasting. At the end of the walk you are booked in for a fabulous lunch with wine at the Mr. Micks Restaurant.

We pick you up in the morning from your Clare Valley accommodation at 9am, get you walking with maps and notes, then after lunch we’ll pick you up and drop you back. Don’t worry about getting lost or tired or stuck in the rain on the walk, you can always give us call and we’ll come and rescue you.

The Hiking

• The hike takes place on stage 1 of the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail & The Riesling Trail.
• The total distance walked is 7.5km.
• At about the 5km point you pass Tim Adams Wines where you could pop in for a tasting.
• We provide you with a map and trail notes, and if you like we can get you set up with a GPS mapping app to use your phone.
• The terrain is moderate, it includes some hills.
• You will walk along an exposed elevated ridge with stunning views, farmland, bushland and the Riesling Trail.
• You should be fit and capable of walking the distance. Walking shoes or boots are recommended.
• The walking ends when you arrive at Mr. Micks.

The Mr. Micks Lunch

• The package includes a great selection of tapas meals and a glass of Mr. Micks Wine in the Restaurant.
• Mr Micks can cater for multiple dietary needs including GF, Veg & Vegan.

The Wine Tasting

• You will pass Tim Adams Wines, where you will normally have time to do a wine tasting, they have also offered a 10% discount for our guests. You can read more about them here: Tim Adams Wines
• Tim Adams wine has a couple of different tasting products, each has a small fee, which is waived if you make a purchase, please check the costs directly with the winery on arrival.
• If you buy wine, you do not need to carry it, you can leave it there and we’ll pick it up in the vehicle when we drop you home after lunch.
• A glass of wine is included in your lunch package at Mr. Micks, you are welcome to purchase extra wine or do a tasting, if you do a tasting some additional fees may apply.

The Transport

• We’ll pick you up from your Clare Valley Accommodation at 9am.
  • We are unable to pick up form Adelaide for this tour.
• We’ll drop you at the start of the hike.
• We’ll then pick you up at 2.30pm after lunch and drop you back at your accommodation.
• If you purchased wine during the walk, we can swing past and pick that up from the winery.

What’s Included?

• Transport to the walk, and back from lunch, to anywhere within the Clare Valley Region.
• Lunch with 1 glass of wine.
• Paper map and trail notes.
• Phone based GPS map and trail notes.
• Bottled Water.
• Pick up of any wine purchases make on the walk.
• A phone number for help if you get lost of injured.

What’s Not Included?

• Wine tasting fees, payable direct to the winery if applicable.
  • Note most wineries waive any tasting fees if you purchase wine, check details on arrival at the winery.
• Extra food or wine in addition to the lunch package.
• Hiking gear, you’ll need walking shoes, clothing for the weather, a small backpack to carry items may be useful.
